The Freda Flint Visual Arts scholarship 2010
The Artists of River Town presented three local high school seniors with Freda Flint Visual Arts Scholarships at ART's general meeting Wednesday, May 19th. (From left) Rachel Carpenter, Las Plumas High School; Julia Burnett and William Meier, Oroville High School, were awarded the $250 scholarships at the gathering which included their families and teachers. This is the third year ART has presented the scholarships.
SEPTEMBER 23-26, 2009: Children's art was displayed at the A.R.T. gallery during the annual Salmon Festival. 250 children enrolled in the after-school programs in the Oroville area participated in the Salmon on the Greenline contest. This program was run as a partnership between Artists of River Town, the Butte County Office of Education, the Oroville Fish Hatchery and Mooretown Rancheria.
The Freda Flint Visual Arts scholarship winners were awarded April 15th.
Each year, one senior student from Las Plumas High School
and one from Oroville High School is chosen to receive the $200 award.
Artists of River Town's fourth Kids' Art Day was a roaring success thanks to the good work of the event's organizer, Freda Flint, and to the participating artists. Also on hand to help out were high school Key Club members and Oroville Friends of the Library.
